The high sustainability ambitions have been the driving force behind the choice for a full timber construction for the Duurzame Woning Middenwaard. This did not prevent Marco van Zal Architecten and Breed ID from creating a complex spatial structure that fosters a rich living environment. The timber structure is visible in many parts of the interior, giving it a warm and inviting ambiance.
With this house, Breed ID has demonstrated what is possible with wood. Characteristic and challenging design features of the house include the (double) cantilever above the carport and the large window openings that offer vast views of the surrounding landscape. From the first sketch to the final production drawings, efforts were made to integrate structure, architecture, and other building disciplines, such as installations.
