In collaboration with ATELIERFRONT, BREED Integrated Design designed and calculated the timber structure for the Gibbons in Artis, Amsterdam. The design is a pavilion that blends into its surroundings. The building creates a habitat for the great apes, where they display their natural behavior: from singing to swinging.
The structural design had to take into account the physical properties of the apes. But how strong is a monkey!? And what does that mean for the structure? BREED Integrated Design has conducted research on this with great pleasure, resulting in an elegant wooden structure.
